You’re never too old….

Sometimes, quite often really, I am lucky enough to actually measure the impact training has on my clients. One of my last sessions on Friday really brought home the reason I love my job so much. My client gave me permission to share her story with you to show that (in her case) an hour or two of effective training a week can make a huge difference to your health and vitality.

This client has trained with me over the past 14 years with a 4 year break during lockdown. She’s just coming up to her 75th birthday.  She came back to personal training with me last year as she was aware of feeling a bit weaker and more breathless day to day. Not being the greatest fan of ‘gym time’,  she does however really apply herself when she’s with me – to her massive credit.

On Friday, I decided that we would replicate our 45 minute session from the 10th September 2024, just to see how much progress has been made. ‘Fitness’ levels are partly measured in ability to recover quickly. On Friday, a 45 minute session (which was difficult in September) was completed with 20 mins to spare. The 2 rowing machine sessions were both 8 seconds faster. The weights were way too light compared to where we are now.

As she left and I checked if I was OK to share our session with you, she said ‘don’t forget to say there was a double hip replacement during the 4 year lay off – you can get back to fitness with all that.’
